| Present Work: |
My position is Sr. Director, Conservation Science for Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, a regional non-profit biodiversity conservation organization in Pittsburgh, PA. This work involves oversight for the PA Natural Heritage Program, Conservation Planning, and Ecological Stewardship. I am also a Research Associate at Carnegie Museum of Natural History in the Section of Invertebrate Zoology, and I have collaborated on various insect and plant inventories and other studies with that institution. I serve on several state committees focusing on biodiversity and conservation. I serve as chairperson of the Arachnida Committee, PA Biological Survey. |
| Past Work: |
My background is largely as a naturalist and conservation biologist with broad experience in regional flora, fauna, ecosystems and conservation issues. Past projects have involved studies of birds, reptiles and amphibians, freshwater mussels, general invertebrate community inventories, and vascular plant inventories. Much of the focus has been on rare and endangered species, both plants and animals. |
| Expertise/Interests: |
I have recently determined to be a student of arachnids, spiders in particular. I am presently actively collecting, investigating the literature, learning morphology, taxonomy, biology, etc. I would like to eventually develop a checklist of the spiders of Pennsylvania. I am particularly interested in spider diversity and ecology. Any expertise in the above will have to develop over time. I am also a member of the American Arachnological Society. |
