General Comments: Infertile hybrids between Bassaniana versicolor (Keyserling, 1880) and Bassaniana utahensis (Gertsch, 1932) are known in southern Ontario and adjoining States. Specimens of all three forms have been collected under bark scales on many kinds of trees. The range of of Bassaniana versicolor (Keyserling, 1880) is thought to be more restricted than that of Bassaniana utahensis (Gertsch, 1932) (Dondale & Redner, 1978).

Description:
The carapace and legs are brown and mottled with yellow and off-white flecks. The dosal surface of the abdomen is flecked with brown, yellow, and off-white. Palp: The retrolateral apophysis has a terminal spur. The embolus is long, thin, and curved and the pars pendula (a concave region at the base of the embolus) not reaching the midline of the tegulum (Dondale & Redner, 1978).

Description:
The colour and structure of females are similar to that of males, but are usually paler with diffuse spots or flecks of colour. Epigynum: The median septum has a longer than wide median septum. The spermathecae are approximately kidney shaped, grooved, and close together. The copulatory tubes, which distinguishes this species from other members of this genus, are fully visible along their whole length between the spermathecae (Dondale & Redner, 1978).
