General Comments: Bite readily and persistently if handled. The venom may cause local swelling and necrosis of the skin and of underlying fatty tissue and muscles. Healing may take up to 8 weeks.

Natural History, Phenology & Image(s)

Recorded Habitats:  In Europe, are found in thickets, fencerows, and similar locations but in North America are found almost exclusively in and around houses, especially in the autumn. Specimens occasionally found under stones.
Life & Natural History:  Adults collected in May and June and sometimes into late winter if in warm, human habitations.

Details About Males

Description:  Carapace orange-yellow. Chelicerae dark orange. Legs and abdomen yellow, the latter with indistinct heart mark.
