General Comments: The range of this species is Alaska to Nova Scotia and south to Arizona, New Mexico, and West Virginia. It has also been collected in the former Soviet Union. Mature males and females have been collected March to October and also at elevations up to 4360 m. Males and females are often found together in the same silken retreat. Egg sacs can be found June to September and are guarded by the mother (Platnick & Dondale, 1992).

Recorded Habitats: under stones and loose bark, pebbly beaches, fields, talus, association with lodgepole, ponderosa, and jack pine, spruce, fir, juniper, scrub oak, birch, sagebrush, sphagnum (Platnick & Dondale, 1992)
Life & Natural History: Mature specimens of both genders have been collected from March to October. Males and females are often found sharing the same silken retreat (Kaston, 1948). Egg sacs (collected June - September) are carefully guarded by the female.
