Life & Natural History: The web is usually verical, built toward evening, has 15-20 radii, and there is a silk-lined retreat nearby. Both sexes are mature from early spring to late autumn, and some individuals may overwinter as do immatures of various instars. Eggs are laid in spring or early summer (Dondale et al., 2003).

Description: Carapace is dark orange-red, sometimes paler at margins, thinly covered with white setae. Legs are yellowish to orange with distal portions of segments dark. Abdomen with greyish-brown heart mark and with paired, angular broken markings. Venter is black with distinct, white bracket-shaped marks (Dondale et al., 2003).
